Agreement
These terms govern your use of The Survey School’s websites, community, courses, events, and related services (the “Services”). By using the Services or joining as a member, you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.
What we are — and what we are not
The Survey School is an education and mentorship community. It is not a licensing body, an accredited academic institution, or a professional surveying firm.
- We do not grant, and do not represent that we grant, any professional licence, registration, certification, or continuing-education credit. Completing our material does not qualify you for licensure in any jurisdiction and is not a substitute for the education, experience, and examination your licensing board requires.
- Certificates or acknowledgements we issue confirm participation only. They carry no professional or regulatory standing.
- We do not provide surveying, engineering, or other professional services, and nothing in the Services is professional advice for a specific project. We are not your surveyor or engineer.
- You remain solely responsible for your own work, including its accuracy, your compliance with the laws, standards, and licensing rules of your jurisdiction, and anything you seal, certify, or deliver to a client.
- We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of any licensing board or regulatory authority.
No guarantee of results
We make no promise about the income, employment, business growth, contracts, exam results, or any other outcome you may achieve. Member results described anywhere in the Services are those individuals’ own experiences, earned through their own work over time. They are not typical, not guaranteed, and not a promise of what you will achieve. Your results depend on factors outside our control, including your effort, experience, market, and equipment.
Membership, billing, and cancellation
- Membership is sold on a subscription basis through our community platform. Fees, billing periods, and the plan you select are shown at checkout.
- Subscriptions renew automatically at the then-current rate for your plan until cancelled. You may cancel at any time; cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid period and you keep access until then.
- Where we offer a money-back guarantee, its terms are those stated at the time of purchase. Except as stated there or as required by law, fees are non-refundable, including for partial periods and unused access.
- We may change pricing or plan contents. Changes to your recurring fee will be notified in advance and apply from your next billing period.
- Taxes are your responsibility where applicable.
Member benefits, hardware, and software
Some memberships include benefits provided by third parties — such as equipment, software licences, correction services, or event passes. These are subject to availability, eligibility requirements, and the terms of the provider. We may change, substitute, or withdraw a benefit at any time. Benefits have no cash value, are not transferable, and are not a substitute for any part of the membership fee. Third-party products are governed by their own warranties and terms; we are not the manufacturer or licensor.
Your account and conduct
- You must be at least 16 and provide accurate information. You are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping your credentials secure.
- Access is personal to you. Do not share, resell, or provide access to your account or our material to anyone else.
- Do not harass other members, post unlawful or infringing content, scrape or bulk-extract our material, or attempt to disrupt or gain unauthorised access to the Services.
- We may suspend or terminate access for breach of these terms, and may remove content that violates them.
Intellectual property
All courses, videos, written material, assessments, tools, and branding in the Services are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by law. Your membership grants you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive licence to access and use them for your own learning while your membership is active. You may not copy, republish, distribute, sell, or create derivative works from them, or use them to build or deliver a competing offering, without our written permission. This licence ends when your membership ends.
Content you post in the community remains yours. By posting it, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, display, and reproduce it in connection with operating and promoting the Services.
Third-party platforms and links
Parts of the Services run on third-party platforms, and we link to third-party sites and tools. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content, availability, or practices. Your use of them is governed by their terms.
Disclaimers
The Services are provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and any warranty that the Services will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that material will be accurate, complete, or current. Surveying standards, regulations, and technology change; you are responsible for verifying that anything you learn applies to your jurisdiction and project.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost business, lost data, or costs arising from work you perform or deliver. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Services will not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Services, your breach of these terms, or any work, deliverable, or professional service you provide to a third party.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We will change the date above, and where changes are significant we will give a more prominent notice. Continuing to use the Services after changes take effect means you accept them.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Ohio, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, and the courts located in Ohio have exclusive jurisdiction, except where the law of your country of residence requires otherwise.
