Lead Video Editor
Content·Remote·Full-time
Own the entire video pipeline — YouTube long-form, shorts, lecture polish, and event recaps. There's room to grow into a creative-director role as the team scales.
About the role
We produce a lot of video — founder YouTube, recorded lectures from multiple instructors, field-day footage, ads. Right now it's ad-hoc; we need someone to own the pipeline end-to-end and give the whole catalog a consistent feel. This is a craft role with a real growth path.
What you’ll do
- Edit the founder's YouTube videos — long-form and shorts.
- Polish recorded lectures from instructors (cleanup, captions, chapter markers).
- Cut event footage from workshops, Geo Week, and the annual Symposium into recap pieces.
- Build a consistent visual language — fonts, lower thirds, pacing — across the whole Survey School catalog.
- Eventually lead creative direction as we add editors and motion designers.
What we’re looking for
- 3+ years of professional video editing.
- A reel that includes YouTube long-form AND short-form (vertical) work.
- Strong sense of pacing, music selection, and captioning.
- Adobe Premiere or DaVinci Resolve fluency. Comfort with After Effects or Motion is a plus.
- Reliable own workstation that can handle 4K timelines.
Nice to have
- Associate's degree in film/video production, OR a reel that speaks for itself.
- Motion graphics + color grading chops.
- Familiarity with surveying, drones, GIS, or any technical subject matter.
- Experience editing educational or course content.
