Event Coordinator
Operations & Community·Remote (with regular travel)·Full-time
Plan and run every in-person moment of The Survey School — workshops, field days, conference attendance, campus visits, and the annual Symposium.
About the role
Our members are most loyal when they've actually met us in person. This role owns that — from one-day workshops and field days to our presence at Geo Week and the annual Survey Research Symposium, plus partnerships with university surveying programs. Logistics, vendor relationships, on-site execution.
What you’ll do
- Plan workshops and field days end-to-end — venue, gear, schedule, attendees, follow-up.
- Coordinate The Survey School's presence at industry conferences (Geo Week, Intergeo, state society conferences).
- Build partnerships with university surveying / geomatics / GIS programs for campus workshops.
- Run logistics for the annual Survey Research Symposium and the Intergeo trip for the winning project.
- Manage vendor relationships, on-site execution, and post-event follow-up.
What we’re looking for
- 2+ years coordinating in-person events (corporate, conference, educational, or similar).
- Strong project management and vendor management skills.
- Willing to travel several times per year.
- Comfortable owning a budget and a timeline simultaneously.
Nice to have
- Bachelor's degree in event management, hospitality, communications, or related — but a track record of real events you've run matters more.
- Experience working with universities or trade associations.
- Surveying, geospatial, or technical-industry background.
